I first noticed that some of the cat-tails seemed to be falling over. Not a big deal.. just before Winter they could do this. Then, I noticed they seemed to be falling over into a dome shape in one section. Ok, little odd. Then I started hearing more splashing noises in the pond. I figured it was the ducks splashing. But, then I would hear it more often, and late at night. Usually, the ducks are more quiet and don't splash so loud so often. Next, I noticed lines in the water, like something just swam in it. Then, I saw a shape swimming. Ah ha! A creature! I waited, and watched. I finally saw something swimming from the dome.. then back to it. I couldn't see what it was, but saw it was something. I walked down to the pond, it must have heard me.. I heard a big splash, then smaller splashed in the dome. It was on to me.
Today I was out looking. I heard a strange, almost scratching, noise from within a batch of cat-tails. I saw one moving, back and forth.. more of the noise.. a little splashing, then *whoop* that cat-tail dissapeared.
Beaver? Muskrat? Lock Ness Monter? Looks like I'll have to do some pond recon.
