For the last week or so I Blue Heron has been coming to the pond in the morning. When we moved in, there was a white one and now a blue one. It's pretty cool watching him (her?) walk around. Not sure what it's eating in there, but it's nice to watch.
It also seems that the 2 resident ducks have guests... or roommates. 2 other ducks have been in the pond with them. And I've been seeing more hawks hovering close to the ground in the field. Geese have been coming by sporadically. I haven't seen any deer for a while, and have yet to hear any coyotes at night.
It's a nice 79 degrees out with 28% humidity. It feels warm after having winter cold, and 50s/60s as of late. But, you can be outside for a while without sweating, unlike the norm for FL. Where I live also has a nice breeze about 90% of the time which is very nice. Sometimes, the wind gusts pretty hard, which isn't so nice mainly because of all the dirt (new houses, no grass).
Speaking of grass... I now have a front lawn with 3 layers of grass. A taller level which should be mowed, a mid-level from a seeding a month ago, and a low level from a seeding 2 weeks ago. Well, 4 levels... since there are still some dirt spots. It's encouraging seeing the new grass growing. My front should be nice this year, but not sure about the back. I'm not sure what to do. Where I do have grass will soon be covered by a deck. Seeding is really a pain, but the cost of sod is about $3 for 10 sq. feet. It could cost a few grand to sod the whole back yard (just the sod with me laying it). I'm thinking to just grow corn :-)
